When reporting a violation, many individuals ask whether their name will be made public to the person they reported. The answer is: it depends.

First, it depends on the city. Some cities require that you register with them before these cities will issue tickets based on your Parking Mobility violation reports. In these situations, the cities know your name but not the vehicle owners you report.

Second, it depends on whether the city-issued ticket is contested. If the owner of a vehicle you report acknowledges they parked illegally and simply pays the fine, then in most cases that vehicle owner does not know who you are. And our experience shows that most vehicle owners who are reported through Parking Mobility do not contest the city-issued ticket because of the photo evidence — it’s clear that their vehicle was in a disabled spot without proper plates or placards.

If that vehicle does contest the city-issued ticket, then in some cities that person has the right to question the person who reported their vehicle. But in other cities the photo evidence supplied by Parking Mobility is enough.

In the end, please keep in mind why you’re involved with Parking Mobility. If your reason is stop the rampant abuse of disabled parking, then we hope that you are willing to be known as a person who reported abuse. In fact, we hope that you’re proud to do so. Your involvement is making life more accessible for your community. You are making a difference!
