Support for Blackberry Storm 2

18 August 2011 Categories: App Updates, Blog, News

Several users have reported issues with running Parking Mobility on their Storm 2 (9550). We have identified the issue, but our Blackberry developer is on vacation until early September. He will fix the bug as soon as possible after his return, and we will send out a notice once the update has been published. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

Thanks for using Parking Mobility!

New Android app released — fixes DROID issues

28 July 2011 Categories: App Updates, Blog, News

I wanted to let everyone know that we just released v1.0.33 of the Android app which:

1.) Fixes all known issues with DROID phones
2.) Makes reporting a violation even faster (auto-login, improved compression when uploading the photos, etc)

We encourage everyone to download the new version and give it a whirl. Because it was *just* published on Android Market, you might initially get the older v1.0.29 version — you can tell by tapping the Menu button while the app is running and select ‘About’. If so, within Android Market go to ‘My Apps’ and you’ll see the v1.0.33 update waiting to be downloaded.

Unfortunately, Motorola does not follow standard Android specs, which makes development harder than it needs to be. We have been working with other Android developers to fix issues caused by Moto DROID phones. If interested, I encourage you to click this link which discusses one of the many Droid-only issues we have to deal with:

As always, please let us know if you encounter any issues. Thanks!

Redesigned iPhone app in the works

02 June 2011 Categories: App Updates, Blog, News

As we mention again and again, your personal safety is our #1 concern. As we sadly know all too well, there will always be future violations to report. So, if while reporting a violation you are confronted by someone…just exit the situation.

That said, we’ve received some great feedback from iPhone users on how to minimize the time it takes to submit a report. We’ve taken this feedback and we’re currently redesigning the flow of the iPhone app. The new process will consist of taking the photos first…allowing you to quickly leave the violation to a ‘safe place’ where you can identify the violation’s location on the map, type in the license plate, etc. Considering that Apple takes 10-14 days to approve a new release, we hope to have the new version out by the end of June.

It’s worth mentioning that typing in the license plate number is optional. It is helpful if the user provides it, but if a license plate number is not provided the report is flagged on our server for our staff to type in the license plate before the report is sent to to the city for enforcement.

If you have any thoughts on how we can improve Parking Mobility, please let us know!

iPhone Application Launch

26 January 2010 Categories: App Updates, Blog

It’s been a long road filled with discussions with the disabled community, mobile developers, city leaders, community advocates, friends, family and some drivers who just insist on parking in disabled spots, but the Parking Mobility iPhone Application is here.

So go for it: Download if for free HERE.  We need you to play with it, try it out and tell us what you think about it.

Try reporting cars parked illegally in a disabled spot.  Add disabled parking spots for your reference and so that others in your community can find it.  Suggest where disabled parking should be.

We’ve tested the application, but we need to here how we can make it better.  Let’s fix disabled parking and make this world more accessible.

Thanks,

Campbell
